Te Matariki Panel

How do you celebrate Matariki? My class made Matariki Panels. If you don't know what Matariki is, I will tell you.

Matariki is the Maori New Year.  It is known as the seven sisters. Matariki is an important cluster of stars and literally means little eyes or eyes of god.

Now that you know what Matariki is, I can tell you about our panels. The panels are split into thirds, the top third should represent new growth. The second third represents your personality and ofcoarse the third represents Matariki.

What would you design?I painted two purple koru with red stripes, on my first third. On my second third I drew blue waves. Then on my last third I painted stars and a moon.

Everything turned out well in the end. My class should be proud of their artwork. I enjoyed making them. I hope you like looking at them.
